Roof Panel Enquiry: Drawings and Measurements to Prepare
A useful roof-panel enquiry connects the roof shape to the support structure and delivery plan. Send a dimensioned sketch with photographs, then distinguish confirmed measurements from items your local designer or installer still needs to check.
01 · Show the whole roof and each slope
Mark the roof length, slope direction, eaves, ridge and any openings. Give each roof area a reference so quantities can be traced back to the drawing. Include the unit of measurement and drawing date. Photographs help explain the existing building, but dimensions should not be estimated from photographs alone.
02 · Describe the supporting structure
Provide the frame material, member layout and support spacing if known. For an existing frame, include photographs of joints and visible deterioration. Your local qualified professional must verify structural adequacy and applicable loads. A panel recommendation does not approve the frame or establish an allowable span.
03 · Include the edges and connections
Show where the roof meets walls, gutters, fascia and adjacent roof areas. Ask the supplier to identify the corresponding trims, fixings and seals. Confirm who supplies these items. Roof panels without a coordinated edge and drainage detail can leave important work unresolved.
04 · Connect panel length to handling
Check the measured roof length against the proposed panel length, cutting plan, packing dimensions and site access. Tell us about unloading equipment or restricted access before the order is finalized. Long panels may reduce joints but require a handling plan appropriate to the product and site.
05 · What if I only have a rough sketch?
Send it with clear labels for unconfirmed measurements. SOMEI can organize clarification with the supplier. Before production, the buyer and responsible project professionals should approve the final dimensions, quantities and relevant drawings in writing.
