How to Compare Building Material Quotes from China
The lowest unit price is only useful when the offers cover the same product and scope. Put quotations into one comparison sheet before choosing a supplier. SOMEI helps clarify differences and unresolved items so you can make an informed purchase.
01 · Start with one shared enquiry
Send each supplier the same drawing revision, material schedule, destination and required delivery phase. Give every item a room, opening or roof-area reference. A quotation based on a photograph is a starting point; it does not settle dimensions, accessories or performance requirements.
02 · Compare these items side by side
Product: material, profile, thickness, core and finish. Quantity: unit, piece count, dimensions and any cutting allowance. Scope: trims, fixings, seals and other accessories. Packing: protection, labels and package dimensions. Delivery: agreed trade term, loading location, lead time and exclusions. Record “not confirmed” when information is missing; do not treat a blank line as included.
03 · Separate a saving from a missing item
A lower price may reflect a different specification or a shorter supply scope. Ask for a revised quotation that lists the difference explicitly. Compare the total for the agreed quantity and scope, not a square-metre rate from one supplier with a piece rate from another. Keep freight estimates separate from confirmed product costs.
04 · Approve a written comparison
Your final sheet should identify the selected option, remaining questions and the person approving each decision. Connect the approved sample and drawing revision to the order. When a supplier changes a specification, ask for the effect on price, timing and compatibility before accepting it. SOMEI can coordinate this record within an agreed sourcing scope.
05 · What should I send first?
Send drawings or measurements, a product list, destination and your priorities: budget, appearance, weight, maintenance or installation. If your list is incomplete, mark it as preliminary. We can help identify the missing questions before requesting comparable quotations.
